چکیده

In this paper, we present RDLS (Rich Data Location Services), a grid middleware for data management designed to meet the requirements posed by the GREDIA project [1]. The main purpose of the described Middleware components is to provide the prerequisite services for storage, search and retrieval of annotated, rich media content in a large-scale distributed environment. These services can be efficiently integrated in existing Grid middlewares, such as Globus Toolkit 4 [5], to manipulate rich media content. The users of GREDIA platform will be able to upload their files in the distributed GREDIA repository and to perform advanced searches in the annotations of the stored content. A Peer-to-Peer overlay will be implemented to store the provided annotations. Every node connected to the platform will be able to act not only as a consumer of storage resources, by means of searching existent files, but also as a provider of storage capacity and data services.

A grid middleware for data management exploiting peer-to-peer techniques

In this paper, we describe a service-oriented middleware architecture for Grid environments which enables efficient datamanagement. Our design introduces concepts fromPeer-to-Peer computing in order to provide a scalable and reliable infrastructure for storage, search and retrieval of annotated content. To ensure fast file lookups in the distributed repositories, our system incorporates a multi...

Access control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware

The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...

Making Middleware Communication Architecture Reconfigurable

To deal with emerging network technologies and services, as well as with varying application requirements and dynamic environmental conditions, middleware has to be reconngurable. This requirement highly aaects the middleware communication architecture , which comprises inherent middleware communication mechanisms and the underlying network architecture. In this report, we introduce an architec...

Performance and Challenges of Service-Oriented Architecture for Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have become essential components for a variety of environmental, surveillance, military, traffic control, and healthcare applications. These applications face critical challenges such as communication, security, power consumption, data aggregation, heterogeneities of sensor hardware, and Quality of Service (QoS) issues. Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a so...

Modeling Adaptive Middleware and Its Applications to Military Tactical Datalinks Thesis

Open systems solutions and techniques have become the de facto standard for achieving interoperability between disparate, large-scale, legacy software systems. A key technology among open systems solutions and techniques is middleware. Middleware, in general, is used to isolate applications from dependencies introduced by hardware, operating systems, and other low-level aspects of system archit...
